JT Miller for a first???? especially one in the top half of the draft?? he put up 37 points this year. he ended up on the 4th line down the stretch. AND he has a big contract. he's worth waaaaaayyyy less than a 1st. and no chance you get tage thompson for a 2nd and ryan callahans contract if you want to equate sergachev and ristolainen. both parts of that trade are hilariously one-sided for the lightning. ristolainen is more valuable than sergachev and thompson is way more valuable than callahan/2nd. the bolts will probably have to give away that 2nd just to ship out callahans contract. theyre not getting a return on that. especially a good one. when you do these deals you gotta make them make sense for both teams. remember, both teams have to agree to them

So how did Corey Perry get here, and where did the other $6,000,000 AAV of his deal go?

Risto and Sergachev ARE comparables .. offensive minded with some defensive lapse .. Sergachev is still only freakin 20 and upside as shown on Team Russia .. paired with Dahlin is attractive young pair for a decade .. he fits better in Baffalo when looking at other D and Risto fits better with Tampa

"ristolainen is more valuable than sergachev" this statement tells me you actually don't have a clue what you are talking about. Risto is overpaid, defensive liability and on a contract that's way heavier than what he brings on the ice. Sergachev >> Risto already and Sergy is 20, on an ELC and will cost less than Risto for a couple more years.
I really do hope you guys get to keep your amazing Ristolainen, I surely don't want him in Tampa

a) I'm not a Buffalo fan. I'm a neutral party here
b) if you are so down on ristolainen why the hell would you spend time making a whole trade for him??? "I surely don't want him in Tampa". WTF??

All points and everything else aside Tampa is trying to shed cap so this deal doesn't happen. How does Point get signed if you bring in ristolainen's 5 million cap hit. That's all I'm saying.

Tampa talking to Buffalo about Risto ..
Been widely reported .. on contrast they never talked to damaged goods.. while Risto does have some defensive issues they will be masked in Tampa and how they play. He has the big body RD Tampa D like and the good outweighs the so so .. just accept that .. question is does it cost Tampa Miller or Sergachev?

you are comparing the most sheltered player in hockey who has the most team help in hockey to a player put in a position to fail, being dragged down by horrendous players and systems around him playing against other teams top players every night. of course the advanced stats will paint that picture. talent wise? not even close. and theres the fact that ristolainen is right -handed and brings physicality to the table. that was a swing and a miss. yikes

Agree .. to compare a sheltered 3rd line D in Sergachev on a historice offensive team with top goalie .. to a 1st line D on a BAD defensive team and bad goalie is just silly.. my niece could play 3rd line D on Tampa

talent wise? not even close HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA are you high or something? Sergachev is better than Ristolainen in most aspects of the game already (and has shown constant improvement) and Sergachev is 4 years younger. That's why Buf is shopping Ristolainen, who was drafted believing he'd be a #1/2 Dman but has developed into a top 4 Dman at the very best. Ask any Buffalo fan that watches him play night in and night out and they'll tell you he's mediocre at best, with most of his mistakes not being because he's playing for Buffalo but because he's not as talented as people wanted him to be.

Also, this is a 3 years data. And while some datas can be influenced by the team surrounding you, these are mostly not.

Give this a read. https://theathletic.com/974041/2019/05/13/stimson-a-few-key-stats-the-next-sabres-coaching-staff-should-use-when-considering-rasmus-ristolainens-usage/
The article ends up like this: "By decreasing Risto’s minutes and giving more to Pilut and Montour, the team has slightly improved in this area without new players or system changes. Proper allocation of minutes falls entirely on the coaching staff and needs to be a priority in the upcoming season. If a team cannot use analysis to optimize their lineup, they are starting behind the eight ball each game. Again, when coaches and analysts drill down into specific areas of performance like this, there are small gains to be made. But, applying this level of detail and thorough analysis to each aspect of the team’s performance leads to many small gains that add up to be quite significant. Unfortunately, sometimes those small gains mean playing a $5.4 million player like Risto on the third pairing if you want to improve the team. Let’s hope the next Sabres coaching staff adopt a method similar to this in order to get the most out of the team."

Give this a look too: http://naturalstattrick.com/playerreport.php?fromseason=20182019&thruseason=20182019&playerid=8477499&sit=5v5&stype=2

Teams should stay away from Risto unless they need someone to run a PP (basically the only thing he's great at).

We have six defensemen signed right now, we're not signing any more until Point and the rest of our fourth line get signed. That's when we know our cap situation. I have a feeling Tampa was just doing their due diligence since an RHD would be nice and if one is on the market, it's worth exploring. But after a thorough exploration, I see no merit to adding Ristolainen, and there's no way we have that extra space anyway without convincing every depth player we have to waive an NTC.

Plus that way we can play Hedman - Sergachev as the first pair (which, if you ask me, it's a pretty nutty first pair)
