How so?

1. Allows them to sign Marner and Gardner,

2. get rid of their more expensive and culturally soured Kadri

3. get out of the pressure to sign Kapanen

4. Get out from under Marleaus 6M+ cap hit

5. Get a cheap 50pt 3C (which is great) for minimal cap hit until next year when Nick Petan is ready to play NHL minutes

6. Gives them a legit RHD

Its not about the players value... Its about how they could escape the cap crunch while navigating signing marner and acquiring RHD
