Description
I don't think the Hawks are in as bad of shape as everyone seems to think. This may have gotten out of hand though. This does leave money (once contracts expire after the 19-20 season) to re-sign Strome and Debrincat and then fill holes going forward from there.

Do not understand Hawks fans love fest of Nichushkin. He's expensive and bad. Which you acknowledge by burying the contract. But why would you bury him? Just keep Anisimov. Or trade him for a pick outright. Anisimov isn't that bad.

How many RHD do the Flyers want to accumulate?

I assume they'll keep accumulating until they sign Sanheim, or they trade for one that doesn't suck (which so far they haven't).

There's a few things wrong here, but the biggest one....how do you expect to sign Strome and Cat next summer when they collectively need $13M or more? And what about Kubalik if he performs the way everyone is hoping he does? What about Caggs if he continues the way he played for the Hawks last year...do you let your new Shaw walk? Lastly, what if Gus has another 60 point season do you just let him walk? Bottom line, you don't have enough for Strome or Cat let alone all the others I mentioned here.

It's not that I'm in love with him. The hawks have money for a year and he could be worth a shot, they have a history of doing this with players in the past. If it doesn't pan out, no harm, no foul. (Here, I play out that it doesn't work). The hawks have been trying to get rid of Anisimov for a couple years now. That was just kind of my thinking.

With the contracts that are up after this next season, there is more than enough money to sign the both of them. Also, you can also play "what if" with players but the reality is that you cannot expect to sign everyone who is up. After signing Strome and Debrincat there would still be money left that you could put towards signing guys like Caggs or Gus. Hopefully Kubalik does perform like everyone is hoping!

Do that math...I've tried and doesn't work out in scenario here.
