Or if Colorado takes a forward than we could try swap picks with LA for potentially less assets

According to Draft Pick Value Chart 2016 © Michael Schuckers:

#4 is worth 729, #47 is 135 = 864 while #6 is 594, #35 is 152, #60 is 106 = 852 so Colorado would probably want to swap a 3rd instead of a 2nd or take another prospect.

I know of the chart, I don't think GM's really use that as a guideline. The values are kinda off imo, I mean according to that chart I should be able to package 4 7th round picks for an early 2nd which is obviously ridiculous

I actually think you might be giving up a bit too much. If Colorado knows that LA isn’t taking their guy, I think that you could probably move up just with the DET & COL 2nd swap.

I think if Yzerman is really wanting Byram we just swap with LA, Chicago is probably taking local boy Turcotte and Sakic takes one of Cozens/Dach so for Detroit to move up one spot shouldn't be all that costly.

It’s down to Turcotte & Byram for CHI @ 3, according to reports here in Chicago.

The GM's may not use that exact chart as a guideline, but they definitely have their own draft value charts that they use. It's not an exact science and you are right that just throwing 4 7th round picks gets you the same value, but who has 4 7th round picks?
I think that this trade actually may be right in line with what may be a deal. However, I see Colorado wanting a forward prospect that could step into the lineup this year. Someone like Svechnikov. Maybe the 60th + 6th + Svechnikov?
