"Enjoy playing for 15 fans in Carolina" is one of the most pathetic attempts to mock a team that did better than you lmao

I completely agree with you and Carolina was plenty of fun to watch this playoff.
However, to play devils advocate here I think his point might have been more to do with endorsement deals. Carolina is arguably a better team then the Leafs and are also built for the future, but if Marners camp thinks he will make more money in Carolina or any other market when figuring in endorsement deals the come with being a maple leaf they are pretty stupid … a team can offer sheet mitch 1 or 2 mill more then the leafs can afford but at the end of the day mitch will go home with less “real” money.. if he goes so does all those endorsement deals (Plus the possibility of more) that we see everyday.

Yup. But thats what they dont see.. Mitch at 9 could make more money in Toronto than Mitch at 11 somewhere else.. I hope that somebody would tell them that.

He dad really wants the label of "highest paid player" in the NHL
I honestly think that his dad is under the belief that Marner for Mcdavid 1 for 1 is a fair deal

I could see that. However, that was not the way to get that point across at all.
It's no secret that the market in Toronto is way larger for hockey than it is in Raleigh, so logically it would make sense endorsement wise to stay in Toronto.
The cost of living + the weather here is a major perk though.

Id also assume that the taxation would be better as well, you really wouldn't think that a couple thousand dollars would play a big difference when you are making mutli million but I guess to marners camp it is ….

Not gonna lie.... I would be okay seeing Marner leave Toronto as I find myself wanting to knife my eyes out during the playoffs after seeing the same Marner + Matthews commercial 30 times during a game.

But I mean best of luck to you Leaf fans!

I wanted them to win too but it doesn't change the fact the Canes have one of the worst attendance in the league
