With that much cap space and teams getting surprised by a 81-82M cap (instead of the 83M predicted in Dec) don't you think the Wings will acquire some short-term contract players with large cap hits?
Tampa -->Callahan, Vegas--->Eakin, Haula, Nashville-->Smith, Washington-->Gudas. These teams don't necessarily want to trade these players, but that cap might force them to.

The other option is to send Franzen's LTIR contract elsewhere for picks/prospects/players.

We have plenty cap space and taking a bad contract for just a year would be great imo (like Callahan), the only problem I see is that it's going to block a roster spot.
