Ehlers + Cap Dump (Perrault or Kulikov, think I've seen both on here)

TO NJD FOR

Vatanen, #34, + B-Prospect (Zetterland, Studenic, others)

I think it will depend on which team is knocking but I assume (from what I've read and seen) that Jets are looking for a young, solid, cost-controlled RD and likely a wing roster player (or 1st round pick)

From an Islanders perspective, I'd give WPG Scott Mayfield, one of Kieffer Bellows, Sebastian Aho or Bode Wilde and our 1st or 2nd round pick this season. Also willing to swallow Kulikov's contract

Think the Isles could move a RHD, either Bellows + Aho or just Bode Wilde as prospects, and a second rounder. Could take back Perreault or Kulikov too if absolutely necessary

How about this?

Carolina Hurricanes
Nikolaj Ehlers
Dmitry Kulikov

Winnipeg Jets
Justin Faulk
Janne Kuokkanen
2019 1st round pick (CAR)
2020 2nd round pick (CAR) (turns into 2020 1st round pick if Faulk doesn't re-sign)

Doubt WPG attach a dump to Ehlers trade. They should get max value for him.

Jets would NEED to get back a cost controlled RHD for it to make sense to move Ehlers. The only player that really fits that mold is Pesce from Carolina. They need to be under contract for at least 3 years, not 3 years of team control but already under contract and able to play a top pair defensively responsible role.

I would explore Mayfield, Wilde + 1st for Ehlers + Kulikov. Can Mayfield play in a top 4?

If your watching a cap dump in Kulikov with Ehlers, your not getting Mayfield, Wilde and a 1st back. That package for Ehlers alone, sure. If Kulikov is attached it’ll be more like Mayfield, Bellows and a 2nd... maybe another B level defensive prospect like Quennevile can be added as well. If Wilde is insisted on then the pick becomes more like a 3rd or maybe a 2nd.

Ehlers for Pesce 1 for 1...since that won't happen from a Canes perspective I would say Ehlers for Hamilton.
