Firm and easy no from Toronto. No where close to value and they also have no reason to make this trade. Try some other team, be easier to make a deal work somewhere else.

A forward that scored 44 points...on the 2nd most scoring team in the NHL OR a dman that scored 60 points while truly only getting about ~65 games under his belt. I 100% agree that this wouldn't be a good fit for either team, but TOR wins in value hands down.

Gustafsson is a defensive liability. He's another left handed shot d-man. He's had 1 good season, which he was 27. He's also a UFA after next season. Kapanen is a 22 year old with top 5 speed in the league and a proven two way player that will be a cheap middle 6 option for 2-3 years while the cap is tight. He has minimum 3-4 years of team control left. Toronto actually hands down loses that deal in every way.

hmm...just to be sure you realize Gus scored 17 goals and 60 points last year and is only 27? Toronto will not be resigning Gardiner, Zaitsev has a NTC, and Muzzin is most likely going to be traded. Resigning Hainsey at 50 years old is a horrible idea. You Toronto fans need to get used to the idea that either Zadri or Kapenen will be gone, your defense is horrible, and I'm not sure you will get anywhere close to the 60 points Gustafson brings.....

While he is a liability defensively.... Gustafsson played almost exclusively on the right side.

You realize that Toronto has prospects in the system too that can come up and do a fine job? I'd take Sandin and Liljegren over Gustafsson, they can actually play defence. Zaitsev has already requested a trade so it won't be that difficult to move him. Gardiner is most likely gone but there's been rumours he'd take a discount to stay. There's been no talk of trading Muzzin? Don't know where you pulled that outta. Don't really care about Hainsey, as a cheap depth option he'd be a better fit that Guatafsson would be in Toronto. & you casual fans need to realize that Toronto currently has just about $14M to spend on RFA's and upgrades before trading Marleau and Zaitsev, both who have requested trades and that's another $10.75M in cap space.. so please tell me how Toronto can't sign 3 players (Marner, Johnsson, and Kapanen) for under $24-$25M? It's not as bad as people seem to think it is in Toronto. Nice try though.

My man, It's time set the TOR Kool-Aid down. How is Kasperi any more "proven" than Gus??? Kasperi has played literally 1 year and got 16 ATOI. He was also assisted by playing with Matthews more than any other Leaf...and you want to proclaim him "proven"??? "Top 5 speed in the league" Ok, prove it. Name the ONLY other 4 players in the entire NHL faster than him? I've already said it wasn't a good fit. AND the way GMs are handing out contracts right now...Gus is a Freakin bargain that in a worst case scenario...can be traded at the deadline for TWICE what Kasperi's worth. Just look at the Dmen trades/signings happening these days. Wingers are a dime a dozen.

Typical Toronto fan, over-valuing every single player and prospect they have and thinking anyone is taking their garbage without receiving garbage in return...oh yeah, simple we'll just magically trade away cap....hahahahaha, nice try...have fun with the NBA title because the Maple Leafs aren't getting one with that Defense.

Lol. 3 years of not making playoffs and hitting the golf course early must really get to ya eh? Should try some sunscreen pretty soon. Supposed to be a hot summer, don't want you getting burnt.

Not once did I say who was more proven than who. I said Kapanen was more valuable, which he is. For reasons such as age, team control, potential, skating ability, etc. Guess you missed that though.

Lol. I said Kapanen was a better 2 way player, never once said he was a more proven player. There's a big difference. Glad you can admit to being wrong twice in one post though. Lol.

Lol. More living in the past eh? .. Blackhawks haven't won a playoff game since 2016.. Leafs have more playoff wins in the last 3 years than Chicago has playoff games played. Stop living in the past. Winning the cup 5 years ago does nothing. Lol.
