How about instead of an offer sheet, Kap and Marleau to CBJ for a A-/B+ prospect and a 3rd?

My thoughts. Kapanen doesn't sign that offer sheet He uses that offer sheet as leverage. My feeling is that Kapanen would sign a two year bridge at 3.25m hoping for greater riches in the future. Leafs would match if necessary.
Johnson depending on the Leafs cap situation they would match. Meaning if Marleau is traded cap free, the Leafs would match. But if the Leafs were cap strapped they don't match.

2 year $4mil AAV to Kap, maybe just a 1 year deal. Any longer and he’ll want more $$$. And from the look at all these recent signings, it’s not overpaying... talk for MTL is that Lehkonen might get between $3-3.5mil... and I thought all he would get is $2-2.5mil max....

Yes we would match, the compensation would not be worth it. That would be 8m for both leaving 13.4m to sign marner.

That is a possibility too, although if we match an offersheet we can not trade him for one full calendar year. I think the leafs would be better served adding futures or retaining salary on Marleau to move him and using kappy as part of a deal for an RHD that can pair with Rielly.
