Vegas has zero negotiation leverage. They're trying to move the Clarkson contract, but this may be a better option. Eakin gets replaced by Glass as 3C, Haula by Gusev, and Holden is just an extra. Moving Clarkson's dead cap may cost more and likely wouldn't give them any players in return.

I get it, but there's other GMs in the league that would like to take advantage of the Knight's situation as well. Maybe it's just because I'm really down on Sikura.

I am down on Sikura as well, I don't think VGK will get offered the same young, cheap, NHLers for their cap space needs.

Why is Pirri getting $2M? He mostly plays in the AHL.

They have leverage because those are good players on fair contracts. You dont have to giveaway good players no matter how bad the cap crunch is. Other teams will gladly pay much more.

You don't think they're rushing him at all? I get he's NHL ready, but the center position is not easy to master at that age. Which is why many players that get drafted as C's end up on the wing. (Galchenyuk, Marner, Nylander, Teravainen, Parise and so on)

Haula played 15 games and needed knee surgery, no one knows how he'll bounce back and Gusev is miles ahead of him skill-wise.

He actually scored 12 goals in 31 NHL games. He was scratched a lot in Vegas because Gallant won't break up his 4th line. It's not a big risk if it's a one year contract. He has a ridiculous shot.

I think they should surround him with better wingers. Eichel can carry his line so if Mittelstadt played with Skinner and Reinhart, I think he'll have less pressure and build some confidence which will help his development. Give Eichel Olofsson and Sheary or Nylander that'll line will be decent or sign Nyquist and have 2 legit lines. Mittelstadt was progressing quickly in the 2nd half, his linemates just sucked and hes a playmaking center, he needs a sniper

Fair point, maybe a 200 foot winger as well. Pavelski would be a good veteran for him.

One year, low risk, high reward. He doesn't belong in the AHL and looked like a regular in Vegas when given the chance. He could put up 30 in 82 games.

Disagree, he didn't look like be belonged during his stint in Chicago. We've been here before, and for a lot cheaper. Maybe the speed game suits his "I am incapable of even a shred of defense" style of play...

Also, that two million could be very high risk if this team does well, they need cap space for a rental, and Strome hits his bonuses to an overage.

His stint in Chicago was 5 seasons ago when he was 23. I don't think the hawks need a rental if this roster is healthy. Deep at all 3 forward positions.

Yeah, but he looked like the same player to me when he was with VGK. He had half as many assists as he did goals... That was the same issue when he was in Chicago. That tells me a lot.

What if someone in those forward positions gets hurt? There is always room for an accompanying piece. Strome's FO% took a nose dive from 57% down to 44% after coming to Chicago. The Hawks still need a center, maybe 3rd line, maybe 4th, who can win ****ing faceoffs. Lord knows Anisimov can't do it, and Toews can't always be relied on. Find this year's Vermette (if we're so lucky) and bring him aboard at the end, if it doesn't get addressed in the next few weeks...

Just because we are in a cap crunch doesn’t mean we take dimes on the dollar. While we are in a cap crunch our main goal is to win a cup, replacing Eakin and Haula with guys that have never played in the nhl lol

That's why I said the deal would have to be quite a bit better for Vegas to bite. There's plenty of other teams that would like to help out and get themselves haula, Miller, or eakin. All three have pretty reasonable deals.

What's wrong with having a goal scorer? Pirri scoring goals is a good thing. I don't care how many assists he has if he has 30 goals.

Forsling and Sikura aren't exactly dimes on the dollar, they were never given a chance because of Quenneville's veterans. I think you'd be pleasantly surprised with them.
