Entertaining the Thought of Trading Letang

Description
While I think the Penguins will move one big contract or two lesser contracts, I am not sure it will be Letang. But, his attitude after the season ended and the rumors that have been floating made this post a reality. I know, Letang played and played well in 2016. But, he was out in 2017. The Penguins proved they could win a cup without him even when they had his contract. Trade for Letang would have to be for a young forward IMO.

I gave the Pens a little more Cap just in case any of my signings are a little low. I'm not talking to agents so I don't know the exact numbers for these guys. Burying Johnson in the AHL may be the Pens best bet at this point, as he is a good option if the injury bug bites severely.

Ultimately, to save money I have the Pens banking on the young guys that have talent. Blueger or Kailer steal the show as 3c with energy. I like Blueger and I'd like to see him given a bigger role. See if he rises up or falls.

I also like the offensive RD is two lines deep while the stay at home but talented LD is there as well. Stralman has a couple of good years left. If the Pens sell him on a title run, he may take it.

Additional Details:
I know Pens fans may not be happy with this return, but these are two guys who had a lot of expectations... Maybe they needed to go to a different organization like Jesse has been saying. Also, no big cap coming back. (Edmonton gets a puck moving D man that can shoot from the point on the PP for McDavid and Leon... The Edmonton fans might not like this either, but both of these guys are on the borderline of being deemed busts)

Just kind of throwing this out their would you like a package Ehlers for Letang? It would be a good trade for both teams I feel.

Letang most certainly refuses to waive for Edmonton.

If the penguins do the letang move I am burning all my pens shirts and destroying my TV. This is just awful. Trading a top2 def. for 2 busts man...

I think that could be beneficial for both teams too. I stay away from trading for a guy like Ehlers because every Homer immediately tells me how bad whatever Pens player(s) are.

They are potentially busts.. There is a reason why other teams still have interest in them. Note how Letang and Bjugstad leaving clears 11.4 mill in cap. You get Faulk and Stralman for potentially 1.5 or 2.0 mill less.. Cap space is a value too, remember.

With cap considered. You essentially get Jesse, Kailer, the picks, Faulk, and Stralman for Letang, Bjugstad, and Simon. Plus an additional millionish.. Which is very important this year with the cap likely lower than originally thought.
