Description

If the Rangers know they are OUT on Panarin once the talking period opens on June 23rd, they should do this deal and buyout Marleau same day so he can go to SJ. It isnt sexy and doesnt bring back a big asset but it helps Toronto sign people this year with an RD (and smith is more moveable than PM with no clauses and not being ancient if he rebounds under his old coach babcock) and the Rangers next year.

Why would they help Toronto just to be good guys? You only help another team if they're gonna pay you an asset to do it. That's how cap dumps normally work

Smith is a cap dump too. The concern for the Smith money IF they miss on Panarin this year is next year if they go for Hall and re-sign Kreider. So this gets rid of his bad deal for 2 years for 1 hit of PM.
