Why would the Sens pay a fifth for Calahan?
If anything, they are helping Tampa with a major cap dilemma, and IF (and I mean IF) Callahan WOULD waive to be traded to Ottawa (which, why would he), Tampa would need to add a sweetener to take this contract off their hands.
Melnyk does not believe in weaponizing the cap (taking bad contracts in exchange for picks) as he wants to reach teh Cap Floor and not incur any more salary dollars. So this type of deal will never happen.
That being said, IF this was a normal hockey team, and if I were Dorion...
I'd ask for a 3rd round pick (2019) in exchange for Callahan.

Also, for the contracts, I would be REALLY happy with the sens could lock down White on a Alex Tuch type contract (6 to 7 yrs for sub 5M dollars), but in reality, if we look at the Sens RFA signing history. It will likely be a 2x2 bridge type contract.
