I'd trade Gourde before his NTC kicks July 1st. Next year more cap problems....too many good players.

From what I know about Horton, this is awful for Cally and he has likely been playing through immense pain until now.
Also super convenient and makes some sense as to why they were less than worried about the cap.

What is with you and trading young good wingers on decent contracts for cap considerations that don't yet exist?

The initial post was to trade Miller to be cap compliant. I'd trade Gourde while you still can to be cap compliant, not Miller.
Next year look at those RFA contracts becoming due, Miller can be traded.
Gee, what is with you not acknowledging cap problems?

I'd like to address a couple things, thank you Cally for everything you have done, you are a great leader and tough as nails it's unfortunate for you to go out like this. Father time, health issues and the lifestyle of this sport catches up to everyone eventually. I hope he lives a long life and stays within the organization in some way I like his spirit and if it wasn't for his contract I would have wanted him to stick around longer. I even wanted to launder him like the caps did with Orpik. Callahan did decline but I remember when he played top minutes with Stamkos after the st Louis trade those are the memories I'll keep close. Thank you Cally.

I guess Brisbois musta talked to Bowman about how to get a player on LTIR at a convenient time... if this was Toronto doing this with Marleau, the media and the league would be all over it
