CapOlier Trade

Created by: KVS1
Team: 2019-20 Washington Capitals
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 20, 2019
Published: Jun. 20, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Caps move two young assets and two picks for Pool party and Edmonton's 1st. This is a typical Holland move to move down for more picks and to add quantity of prospects. Burakovsky has real talent and played great with McDavid in Juniors. Caps pick one of the high end forwards with Oiler pick. Pirri is a UFA signing with upside if Pool party can't cut it on 3rd line and is sent to minors to get confidence back. Acciari adds toughness to 4th line and PK help. This team has a lot of flexibility, speed and toughness.

They'd probably rather just do it without the picks involved - Bura for PP

They're going to hold out with poolparty. Holland will Let him play in europe so he can grow in value and then trade him for a better return. Its the tactic that Yzerman did with Drouin. Holding out will get a better return then what's being offered and Holland knows it.

Plus that gives the oilers time to show poolparty and his agent that this new regime can handle young players and pull a chia, mclellan. If he's sees there being a chance in the way the team is run he might even stay

Not a bad idea but they also need to make McDavid happy. Getting a LW he is comfortable with and can skate is more important than maybe increasing PP's value at some future date.

Mcdavid is not the issue. He wants the best team possible and holding out on poolparty will ensure a better team and he knows it as well as most insiders and Gm's do. He's sign for a long time and is a professional and understands the mess this team is in currently. If this continues for say another 2 yrs then I can see him be legitimately disgruntled

If Bura goes to Edmonton and gets on McDavid's line, I'm thinking he hits 20 maybe even 30 goals. Puljujärvi maybe needs a new start, but do we need a project for Bura?

Bura is not a project. He just needs a chance. He lit it up with McDavid in juniors as his LW, he will do the same in the bigs. His problem has been injuries and Troz doesn't play young players. He has been passed by Vrana and sits behind OV and they added Hagelin for D purposes. Never got PP time and most often on 4th line. He just needs minutes and a good center. He has great speed, good hands and has become more responsible. PP is the project. The Oil has fvcked him up and he may never reach his potential. Both need new teams.

That was PP being the project. Bura at the end of this past season played the way he needs to play all year.
