Oilers can not take all that cap, you would have to take Russel back as well.
And Zaitsev has a terrible contract

That's a dumb explanation... the leafs are going to have to sweeten the deal if they want to move zaitsev. Most teams wouldn't even trade a 7th for him.

Not anymore, Karlsson gone, Trouba gone, Myers soon to be signed, RHD are premium assets at this point and there is no point in moving Z if we are unable to improve the team

You could be right, I wouldn't move him if I were the leafs though. He's locked down for a long time, there's a chance he returns to form

You are going to be surprised...

Zaitsev>benning, kapanen>Puljujarvi other than some cap issues oilers wins this trade easily. Leafs would never offer it.

If I were Dubas, I'd offer Marner 8 years @ $9.8M. If he declines, tell him to sign an offer sheet. Sure, losing Marner would suck, but being crippled by the cap for the foreseeable future would suck even more. Might as well take the four 1st round picks and run.
