Personally I wouldn’t bridge Connor. He’s still really young, and if he breaks out for 40 goals and 80-90 points during that bridge deal we could be looking at a 9+ million deal. I would just sign him for around 7 this year.

It's definitely a risk, but I feel like bridging Connor is "safer" than Laine. I feel like bridging Laine might cost the Jets an 11+ contract is a couple of years, and his bridge deal will be crazy expensive. Connor has spent much longer with Scheifele and Wheeler as well and I feel is more "known" ie he's closer to his ceiling of production.

If the Ehlers rumours are true (I hope they aren't), then there's enough space to give both 81 and 29 term. But I don't think the Jets can go near the cap ceiling this term without more major surgery next season when Morrissey and Roslovic/Appleton are in need of new contracts.

Bridging either Laine or Connor is risky. I'm still not convince who the better player is. Connor is a more complete player who plays with unreal speed. Laine is a natural and can shoot the puck like few others. Jets can't pay both of them north of 9 million, but it might take 10-11 right now for Laine and maybe between 7-8 for Connor depending on term
