Canucks fan here.
As much as this trade is tempting, it's a no.

Horvatt will be our Captain, for all the right reasons. He's signed to a good contract, with Term. He is a Core player for our rebuild.
Barrie will soon be an UFA, and honestly isn't even a Huge upgrade over Stecher.

Horvat is a big part of the Canucks future. It will take more than that to get him.

As much as Barrie May get traded, it's not for that package.

Stecher is a very similar player that's younger, under more team control and cheaper than Barrie. Horvat is one of the best two way forwards in the league and has been talked about as one of the making leaders on the team. & again is younger than Barrie and Horvat's younger and better than Soderberg. The picks are irrelevant because we don't know the position of them so it's one team moving up for free basically.

Nothing about this offer says that Vancouver should take it

Not gonna argue that you should trade Horvat. He's a great player on a fantastic contract. But as for "nothing about this offer says that Vancouver should take it"? Barrie's a 60 point defenseman that can quarterback your PP1 and a BC native. Throw Hughes behind him to learn and you've got a pretty damn good looking D-corp. So I disagree entirely on that sentiment.

Soderberg gives you your stopgap. Make it Kerfoot if you want someone younger with more potential. As far as the value goes though, that's pretty damn good for both sides. It's just a question of need/fit, because it's obvious that Horvat means a great deal to that team.

Drop Stecher from the trade and maybe it's getting closer (VAN won't trade Horvat anyways), but LMFAO at the guy who says Barrie "isn't even a huge upgrade over Stecher." Delusional.

I'd agree plus the Avs don't really need Stecher anyway. I'd probably move Soda out and replace with Kerfoot, another B.C. native and a lot younger. Assuming (and yes we know what that does) that the Avs re-sign all but Barrie, the present and future D would consist of Johnson, Girard, Cole, Zadorov, Makar, Timmins, Graves, Nemeth, Barberio, Alt (maybe). Ten D right there. I'm still in doubt that Barrie will be traded, if he can be re-signed to a decent team friendly contract.
