Doesn't make sense to me either but I wouldn't sleep on Vesey just yet. Something just didn't work out with the NYR but i could see him being a sleeper cheap pickup for another team. EDM i'm looking at you.

They're not true, Dreger's comment was taken out of context. He was discussing the Sabres' discussions lately and mentioned Vesey and then said Nylander could be moved, but not in a Vesey deal

I know many are down on Nylander, but I would not trade him for Vesey at this point.
On a different site I suggested Nylander for Vesey, Shattenkirk and Namestnikov (yup all three). I only received one comment and thought the Rangers would not make that trade.
If Caufield is NHL ready, put him with Jack and Jeff.
Move Reinhart down to RW with Namestnikov and Vesey which could be a decent second line.
Sheary and Rodrigues played very well with Mittelstadt.
Okposo remarkably also played well with Larsson and Girgensons.
That would give the Sabres 4 decent lines.
If Blase can do his magic with Ullmark as he did with Murray then we can count on solid GK.
With this trade, Thompson and Olofsson get to play in Rochester at the start of the year and could be called up when there is an injury. If they prove to be ready later in the year, Vesey and Namestnikov could be traded at the TDL.
Finally, Shattenkirk would be better than Nelson, giving the Sabres 7 good defensemen.
