The Buf/EDM trades are exactly what the Rangers need to do and intriguing but the last 2 are doubtful.

As a Sabres fan! NO! Just NO! We already spent a 3rd round choice on him and he walked. Now we are going to spend an 8th overall prospect on him? No way! I would think Nylander is more valuable to be in the Sabres organization than to give him up for Vesey! Only way I want Vesey is if it's part of a much larger trade involving several moving pieces! Not a 1 for 1!

Yeah, if we get Nylander I also wouldn't trade Andersson. They've played very well together in the past and may compliment each other enough to be what they need to break out in the NHL.

First two moves and a signing of Panarin would probably make this the best offseason in Rangers history. I would also love to entertain a Shattenkirk for Stepan swap. Strome getting a 2nd outright is a reach, i would say a 3rd rounder that turns into a 2nd if Strome puts up 40+ points

I get where you are coming from but this was reported to be on the table for the rangers to accept. I think buffalo would rather have a known quantity than just potential, as Vesey would be a good fit for Buffalo (regardless that he spurned you guys in the past)

I would think that if they were trying to trade Nylander he would be involved in something bringing a top 6 guy to Buffalo not a bottom 6 player. We have too many bottom 6 players already!

He earned the right to do what he did and I dont hold it against him at all. But the whole supposed reason we traded ROR was "he didnt want to be here" and trading for a guy that CLEARLY didnt want to be here is just foolish. IMO

That ANA deal is interesting. If I were ANA, I would counter with the two 3rd's and/or ask NYR to take some of Shattenkirk's salary.

But I like the idea of using Lias as incentive to get some one to take Shattenkirk.

Where was it reported that this was on the table? I've only seen Dreger's comments from this morning, where he was discussing what the Sabres were up to. Said he hadn't heard much about a Risto trade, mentioned Buffalo was still interested in Vesey, then said there was speculation that Nylander could be on a move. I don't think he said (or meant) it would be for Vesey necessarily, but I don't know if there are other reports out there.

I mean, yeah vesey is a 3rd line player, but he also hasn't fulfilled his potential that he had coming into the NHL. Playing alongside Eichel+Skinner may help him get to that next level. He definitely became a more complete player under DQ. I think his max is 25G and 50 points (assuming he gets some PP time, he gets barely any on the rangers). Most of his shots are high quality and high danger, but he doesn't take too many shots (under 2 per game). He's a body that isn't afraid of board play, net front or the physical part of the game. He'll never be in contention for any awards but he's the type of player teams need to be a competitor.

I have seen many posts by NYR ACGM's that trade Vesey for a third. Even though Nylander is a bit tarnished right now, he is still worth more than a third.
I do not see, Betterall trading Nylander for a third line player. While I understand he could be a top line player, why not just keep him, play in on the top line and move him at the TDL. Does any one actually think the Ranger's can be a playoff team this year. His cap it not that high that he could not be kept.

The rumor was not so, it was said that Buffalo was still interested in Vesey, and that Buffalo could still trade in Nylander, but for not Vesey in general. Botterill would be an idiot if he traded Nylander for Vesey.

No way buffalo trades a prospect the caliber of Nylander for a 3rd line player. Also why even bother with a 7th? lol
