A 1st round pick in exchange for 1 year of Hamonic seems excessive.

I think you're right tke, I guess the hometown thing get's me thinking. He is a Winnipeg boy, great individual in the community, charities etc. And a fit with recent moves. I am sure he would re-sign and for a hometown discount no doubt.

a 20yo overager is not a smart way to use a first round pick. Hunter Smith anyone?

Claytron I guess you are much smarter than 95% of the 'experts' out there projecting him to go in the first round. Hunter Smith was another era and different management, they made a LOT of bad decisions back then. Calgary boy, lit it up last year, lots of word out there on his vision, leadership, room presence. Hunter had none of that.
Leason also had a lot work and training on his skating which was holding him back and lots are saying it is night and day from years past.
Plus, I'm not an expert, just having fun here.

Hunter Smith was projected to go in the early 20s to Colorado and fell. Every time an overager pops up again we are told why they buck the trend and they never seem to. Glenn Gawdin had similar production and was had as a UFA. Large 20 year olds playing against 17 year olds are going to look good. Hunter Smith produced 0.63ppg as a 19 yo. Brett Leason produced 0.59ppg as a 19 year old.

It's a terrible bet. Steer clear.
