These kids are all so close in skill at this point that it is so hard to differentiate between them. Just because some people said it before the draft doesn’t mean that Turcotte and Cozens are going to be better with 100% certainty. Look at any draft in the last decade. Almost impossible to differentiate between the top 3-10 picks, they are so close in skill at this point. You have to be patient and wait to see how they develop. It sucks that the guy you wanted doesn’t get picked, or the guy you liked gets traded. I just think it’s better to put faith in management, and wait and see. If things go poorly, feel free to call for their heads. If not, be pleasantly surprised. But for now, we have no idea.

Petrock, the problem is Stan has a very bad track record so putting faith in him is incredibly difficult. Stan is 1/2 of what his Father is and Scottie was on the radio yesterday saying hands down you take Byram at #3.

Here's the problem with Dach and it's a big problem. He had average to below average acceleration in the juniors. If you watched him play, that stood out like an elephant in the room. How do you think that translates to the NHL? The NHL is easily 2 to 3 times as fast. While Dach has good top end speed, top end speed is less important in the NHL...especially for a center...it's all acceleration. While a player can do some small things to improve it, acceleration is something that never dramatically improves just like top end speed doesn't. 6'4" guys either have it or don't and he doesn't. For that reason, Dach will be a #3 guy. Cozens and by a country mile Turcotte have a ton of speed. The NHL is a speed game today....Dach was the right pick 10 years ago...not today. I hope I'm wrong, but this doesn't look at all from someone who watched all these guys and agrees with the majority of professional scouts that Turcotte was hands down the 2nd best center and Byram was hands down the best #3 pick....don't worry, we'll be reminded of both players and especially Byram in Colorado for years to come.

Byram is the better player, and letting him fall to Colorado of all teams makes it that much more difficult for the hawks to contend. Colorado is set for years.

A bit hard to understand what you are saying, but all the NHL scouts had ranked Turcotte and Cozens both higher and was unanimous that Turcotte was the best of the 3. The was a TSN mock draft based on the top scouts from every team sent TSN their 1st round rankings anonymously; they do this every year. When you have 31 heads scouts ranking Turcotte higher by majority and Dach behind Cozens and Turcotte then that means something. Dach will end up being a 3C in the league and maybe a 2C. Turcotte will be a 1 or 2C as will Cozens. Dach is slow, the league is fast today.

Well clearly not all scouts did if Chicago too Dach ahead of them..

I am very disappointed. Turcotte and Chicago was a match made in heaven. Oh well.
