Hes not even an exciting pick. His scouting report reads like a left handed mark pysyk.

They really needed a winger and Brink Kaliyev and Hoglander still there (and Lavoie who I really like), i dont get that pick at all

I like the choice of Cozens, but I don’t understand at all why take another LHD? Kaliyev, Lavoie, Brink or Hoglander would be much more interesting and necessary.

He's a puck moving excellent skating human breakout machine...sounds nothing like Pysyk, more like a Guhle that can pass

Keeping in mind that i have read a few scouting reports and not watched a single highlight, i agree that the skating is supposed to be very good, but there were concerns that he completely ignored the offensive aspect of the game as his competition got better. Not sure if that critique was strictly about offense or if it included zone exits as well. Honestly i dont hate it even if he is just a solid shut down guy, but this cornering the market on lhd needs to stop, we need offense and rhd depth as well at this point.

LD is probably the least valuable position in the league. I think i just read he is right handed, so maybe they flip him

Eliteprospects lists him as left handed. Was reading that the breakdown in the nhl is about 60/40 lhd/rhd. I always thought it was eye dominance, but i guess in north america they teach you to play with your dominant hand on top and in europe they teach you to keep your dominant hand on the bottom. And since about 90% of the population is right handed, you get more left shot d- here at least. Its easier to play the off-side if you are a great skater. I agree with you, for these reasons, its just easier to find lhd. However i think goalie is the least valuable position. The bell curve is fat, theres very little difference between the great ones and the average ones- of course the bad ones always seem to give up that one extra goal at the worst time.
