Saving the Ducks future

Created by: Jded
Team: 2016-17 Anaheim Ducks
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 20, 2016
Published: Jun. 20, 2016
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Keeping the cap at a reasonable level since we're a small market team, don't see any way we keep all of our solid 3 dmen. So here we lose Fowler, but we also net the 4th and 6th draft picks from teams who have some willingness to part ways with them, and both receive something badly needed in return. Still can make a cup run over the next two years with a reasonable and stable cap, but also have the ability to rebuild core forwards on the fly in Tkachuk and Dubois with the two picks.

These trades are way in the favor of the ducks. You're not getting the 4th overall and 6th overall for Andersen and Fowler.

      Still look lopsided?
      Calgary:
Moving down within the first round nets them a proven, young, starting goalie and a 5th round pick.

      Edmonton:
They lose the 4th pick but get a top pairing defenseman with hundreds of games of nhl experience who was a high 1st round pick himself but has developed and is still young and improving. In addition to another B prospect and an additional draft pick.
