Skinner, Pilut and Bogosian all played hurt, I expect they will be better.
Dahlin will be physically stronger and more accustomed to the NHL style of play.
Eichel looked unstoppable the last few weeks of the season, best I ever saw him play.
Thompson was by far the best player in Rochester after he was sent down, 6 goals and 9 pts in 8 games and scored half of the Amerks playoff goals.
Olofsson looked very comfortable playing with Jack and Jeff (but so did Mittelstadt the previous year and how many of you remember Foligno's 6 goals and 13 pts in 14 games in the '11-'12 season?)
Asplund may have been the best Amerk the last 22 games when he put up 23 pts.
After Montour came to Buffalo he was by far the best Buffalo defenseman.
Blase did a great job with Matt Murray in Pittsburgh and a very good job with Mrazek and McElhinney in Carolina, can he do the same with Hutton and Ullmark here?
I think Sheary-Mittelstadt-Rodriguez would be a really good third line, and Girgensons-Larsson-Okposo are an excellent shut down third line.
So while there are many good pieces an entire 2nd line is missing.
So while I like to reflect on the positive, I think your post really emphasizes that this team is still several players away from being good and only has $6,000,000 of space.
Hopefully Krueger will get the most of the players and we will be in the hunt at until the middle of March. At the end of this year Hunwick, Scandella, Sobotka and Bogosian all come off of the books so I do not anticipate and big free agent signing with Buffalo this year.
I would give you five stars for being realistic.
