At that point, I probably wouldn't trade Ehlers. Only because I think the Jets are thinking about getting someone to play D, rather than someone else who will need a big extension.
I also am not sure about both Poolman and Niku being in the top 6. That defence could be rather problematic.

Why would Poolman and Niku be a problem? Poolman is 26 and Niku 22 and they both have two full seasons of professional hockey experience, they'll both be fine.

I think you would need to hold onto kulikov or beaulieu in your build as a little insurance and going 8 deep on the blueline, I don’t think ehlers is a good trade piece, selling low and losing a lot of team speed with that trade. Would love to see a physical presence added in top 6 over losing speed

Don't get me wrong, I really hope you're right. Poolman has had a very hard time staying healthy and I worry about Niku's eventually getting pushed around by full time NHL-ers every night.

I agree and am dead set against another crappy dump trade like the Mason deal was, Kulikov is okay and I'd much rather keep him then lose a good roster player plus picks to move him, last time it was Copp so who's to say this time it wouldn't be Copp, so not worth it to do that again and imo that was the first of Chevy's bad trades.
Yup trading Ehlers is just gonna be straight loss, I doubt they even break even on it plus his speed is so important to them, they're not as fast a team as everyone thinks and trading Ehlers would make them slower.
I agree they could use a bit more size up front, really think they should of made that JT Miller trade and dealt out some other pieces to fit him in, good size, contract and plays Center/wing so a versatile forward who seems like a lock for 45-50 points which is something they could use.

Ehlers has not proven to be a playoff player and if the rumours around Winnipeg are correct about him in the dressing room then we should sell now. Patrick is a future 1 or 2 Center but I am not against trading Ehlers for a dman. Also I just don't see Roslovic being a top 6 forward.

The dressing room issues start with the captain and future captain not Ehlers, this teams so called leaders should all be stripped of their letters.
I see Roslovic as a middle 6 forward and could easily be a 2C but Jets use this weird Lowry 3rd line thing, until that changes all their young talented players are screwed, when Appleton and Vesalainen are the next unhappy players don't be surprised. Regardless of whether Hamonic would resign with the Jets or not I'd never trade Roslovic for him, not giving up a controlled former 1st round pick who's still on an ELC for another season for a guy I could sign in a year in free agency.

Valid concerns but that's the risk you take and need good defensemen with the Moose for callup purposes, I really hope they resign Nogier, I think he's a more then capable 3rd pairing RHD.

I think the real issue is with the coaches. Maurice should of been let go last year just for the sake of changing coached but this year he should of been fired because of his stubbornness.

Oh I agree Maurice and some of his crew namely Huddy need to go but am just saying that this narrative that the young guys are the problem is completely wrong.

The coach and his leadership group shoulder the majority of the blame for this wasted season.

Wonder how short Maurice's leash will be this season, I don't think it'll be short enough but we'll see, I figure he has till shortly after New Years and if they're not comfortably a top 3 team in the central he'll be fired.
I believe the owner thinks quite highly of Maurice so his leash is quite long.

Maurice was a good choice when he was hired but he is not the coach we need now. He didn't have much talent when he started but now he does and he can't manage this.
