Not that these trades go through but I'll bite for the moment.

What are you going to do with Beaudin, Boqvist and Mitchell are all ready next year? Seabs is unmoveable, you don't move Jokiharju on a ELC.

My plan was to shore up the defense with legit NHL talent for the next 3/4 years. If Matta and/or Murray stay healthy and productive, a guy like Beaudin would be an expendable piece in a possible Seabrook trade. This would also give me the future cap room to sign the upcoming UFA/RFAs.

If Boquist and/or Mitchell both prove to be NHL caliber then a player like Murphy could be shipped out for some picks/prospects.

Boqvist and Mitchell are both definitely NHL caliber, the question is will they jump in right away next year and backfill. Beaudin is pro this year so we will know how he does in the AHL.

Point is, bringing in all these vets on 3 to 4 years contracts only to trade them later when your prospect are ready is waste of assets you are trading away for them. If the Hawks make one more move on D, that would be the absolute limit not two more moves.

Ryan murray isn't a 1st liner and that is way overpayment for a guy who's only played 1/2 the games he's been available for recently. Maatta is another Murray type of player in that light and we already made that move.

Next year we need to sign Cat and Strome ($13M+ combined) and depending on how Kubalik and Caggs perform. So essentially these guys you just traded for are going to have to get moved to afford the guys upfront.

You aren't getting either one of those two guys from Vegas. Those are guys they are building around.

I doubt they are "building around" a 3rd line D-man like McNabb lol. Schmidt, Theodore, Marchy, Stone, Glass, and Karlsson are the guys they're building around.

Vegas does make for an interesting trade partner and Gus could be a major piece at a dirt cheap cap hit that helps their LHD that is not particularly awesome awesome. I would be willing to take Reaves, Clakson's deal, and one of Haula/Eakin (if Anisimov can be moved elsewhere). If I am moving a package with Gus and taking back either Reaves or Clarkson....Tuch has to be the reason (or maybe Gusev).
