Good deal, adds (keep) depth. But Bruins have too much dmen.

Honestly, they should have saved that spot for a younger player. He's 30, barely gets on the ice. Time to move on.

I'm surprised I thought Kampfer would want to sign with a team he could actually get minutes for

Agreed. 2y to be a 7th (or even 8th) D-Man is an odd choice. But perhaps with the Cap being a bit lower than anticipated and with teams strapped for cap space more than ever, he was worried about getting squeezed out of the market altogether. Any offer a) paying him an extra $100,000 (not insignificant except in the context of pro sports but maybe not insignificant to this player) and b) guaranteeing that (extra) money for two years was too attractive to pass on.

In turn Bruins get a veteran guy that can mentor folks in the locker room next season (after Chara is gone - presumably), and who they don’t mind sticking in the press box 75% of the time for fear of stunting their development.

" get a veteran guy that can mentor folks in the locker room next season (after Chara is gone" with all the respect to Kampfer, you can't compare his leadership with Chara lol

Okay fair. Cue all the “those are some big shoes to fill” jokes.
