Murphy for Brown makes sense, Gus for Brown is awful. Leafs need to add quite a bit more.

I think the leafs are looking to make moves based off the Marner Situation and this move saves them almost a million and gives them a Defensemen to run their power play. Also, i dont see them trading Murphy based on how many years left he has and his cap hit. I think he is a solid top 4 guy for the Hawks

The only i would note is Gus is a UFA after this year. That factors in a bit, I think the leafs could add a third or a Conditional second on that deal with him having to resign to get the second.

Gus scored 60 points last year and teams were offering late firsts for him at the deadline. Bowman isn’t going to just give him away to a team that is dire need of good cheap players. I think Brown, Woll, and a 3rd that becomes a 2nd if he resigns should be closer.

That would be fine with me too. I was just implying it seemed every was set on like Kapanen for Gus or bust. which felt off to me.
