I know it's been "rumored" that he's taking meetings but I am pretty sure Pavelski and San Jose already have the parameters of a deal in place, just waiting on Timo.

I assume so too but San Jose doesn't have a lot of cap space. Pavs and Timo are going to take most of that up if they sign both and still will need to fill out a roster. So if they low-ball him he might be looking elsewhere and the Bruins are a perfect fit for him.

Backes is not waiving for OTT unless they are flipping him.

I don’t see Pavs signing elsewhere. Better off trading for Labanc to free up cap space for them.

OTT or any other rebuilding team willing to take on salary, doesn't really matter who. They'll get a couple future NHL caliber players and a 2nd. I would assume they would then buy Backes out unless they want his leadership skills which on that team makes sense, they don't have many vets. Similar to what Toronto did with Marleau.

Pavs obviously is a dream, but its a perfect fit.

Backes still has an NTC...he is not waiving it for Ottawa.

Get rid of Backes and sign Backes 2.0 the second saga

Pavelski at 7.5 for 3 years is just Backes all over again IMO

Pavelski is a consistent 30 goal scorer and is coming off a 38 goal season. Backes was showing decline before they signed him. But it's why I would rather go higher AAV in shorter term with him vs lower AAV for 5 years. Only a 2-3 year window for Bergy and Krejci left in their primes, gotta try to make the most of it.
