He said he is willing to wait for the rebuild/retooling to be done. His wife loves LA and so does he. Hopefully we get the 1st overall pick in 2020 and get Lafrenière and we will be good again

Kings won't give up any picks to get rid of Kovalchuk. They don't need the cap space. They're willing to sit on his contract for another two seasons if no one wants to give up anything of value for him.

I can see them doing Kovalchuk for a low-round pick (no retention), or Kovalchuk for a mid-to-high round pick (up to 50% retention or taking back a short-term salary dump).
