We Can and We Will

Created by: JakeD
Team: 2019-20 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 25, 2019
Published: Jun. 25, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I still don't think Marner gets a deal this good but I'm just pushing it to what I think is the absolute worst case AAV.
Hyman starts on LTIR and Dermott start on IR which gives Liljegren and Marchment a chance to play with the big team to start the year before going back to the Marlies to dominate. (Moore drops down to the 4th line when Hyman comes back)

You can't trade Zaitsev for a 2nd round pick. You can't even trade Zaitsev for a 7th round pick! If you could, it would have happened by now. You need to give up assets for someone to take him.

What happens when Hyman comes off LTIR and you are over the cap? This is still very, very tight. Not to mention the Zaitsev trade is a dream at best IMO

If you send a player (probably Engvall) down before Hyman comes off, there's room to still carry two spares. I had to put him on LTIR in order to pull Engvall up so it works when Engvall goes down. Zaitsev could be traded for "Future Considerations" as far as I care, I just picked a team that I think will have an interest.

?????? Marchment a chance to play with the big team to start the year before going back to the Marlies to dominate. What he a 3rd line winger, he never groing to dominate.
All this fascination with Miller, might be easier just to keep Zaitsev.

Marchment had a big playoff performance and a lot of Marlies reporters smarter than me have him as the readiest Marlie. Miller is cheaper than Zaitsev, and Zaitsev doesn't mesh well with Rielly. I think the first priority for Dubas (after Marner) is do get someone who can play with Rielly and that Babs /will/ play with Rielly.
