You're not getting Marner.

My point is there isn't a single team that has all of these traits:

1) The Cap space to pay Marner 11+ million a season
2) The willingness to spend 11+ million a season on Marner (a winger Id like to point out)
3) The draft picks to do so.
4) A place where Marner would like to live for the next 7 years.
5) A team Marner would like to play on for the next 7 years.
6) A GM who actually has the balls to do something like this and pi$$ off the richest team in hockey.

here's what Philly is lacking: 1, after that MORONIC Hayes contract. Only reason you have any cap space is that Voracek trade, which i can't see happening.
4 and 5, can't see Marner choosing Philly over Toronto for a couple more dollars.

What’s the motivation for the Ducks to move Comtois? Kids a beast.

In what world do you think the jets will do that. Hagg is easily replaceable on the free agent market for cheaper (he is worth a 6th at best) and vorobyov isn’t worth the downgrade. You gave up depth peices and a 2nd for a 1st, does that really make sense to you?

Think you're being too Flyer optismistic getting all that return those trades . Funny how two RWer...Konecky and Marner have equal in goal scoring, but Marner is worth 3 times as much.
Can't see the trades, the signings working for the Flyers.

If Aho doesn't get offersheeted, no one will. of all the teams with big name RFA's, they're the only non cap team on an internal budget I believe.

First off, hockey aside, as someone who appears to be from the Toronto area, I don't think you realize what a great city Philadelphia is and also how optimal its location is. I see no reason Marner wouldn't sign in Philly for 12.5m if Toronto can't afford to give him 10m+. Also step off the high horse. No one gives a **** that the Leafs are the Leafs. Let them be pissed if they want, business is business.

All that being said. Yes, I was questioning the Voracek trade a bit myself. The Avs have the cap space and a lot of young talent. Voracek is a fantastic hockey player who's locked in for five more years. However, if they aren't interested, I think Voracek has to be worth at least two firsts and a second somewhere. That is where we would get the picks to reload after offer sheeting Mitch Marner.

Finally, I've never been high on the idea of offer sheeting Marner anyways. I'm just playing around with some possible scenarios and getting creative as a keyboard warrior GM anyways cause its fun. I don't think I'm too far out of reality with this though. The market is very interesting this year.

just saw a jets fan on another thread say they'd trade a third for hagg. i know they're not the GM but that was one metric I used in gauging WPG's need for defense. Yeah Vorbyov is worth replenishing a first rounder for me. Haven't even been impressed with the AHL games I saw this year

I am not from Toronto, and I have been to Philly, beautiful city. I mean as Toronto being his hometown, Philly isn't that much better of a living situation for him (if it's even better at all). And I would guarantee you if Philly offersheets Marner, Toronto Offersheets Provorov. That's what I mean as far as pi$$ing off Toronto. If they lose Marner they have lots of cap space to retaliate.

Well hagg isn’t worth near that much. I meant vorobyov isn’t worth the downgrade to the jets. He is nice but not that nice.

The only player Anaheim would trade Maxime Comtois for is Philippe Myers. And you might have to add.

Be prepared to lose Hart in a couple years then. Especially with Freddy expiring around the same time.

I couldn't agree more with your Marner point, there's no way Philly gets him. However, the last team to be talking about cap space right now should be the Leafs... You have $13.5M to sign Marner, Kap, Johnsson, 3 defenceman and a 4th line center. Even if you manage to bring up kids to fill some of these roles, that brings the cap hit down to ~$10M, with Kap, Johnsson and Marner all still not signed. In order to make it work for the Leafs, one of Kap and Johnsson needs to go, as both are considering bridge deals around $3.5M, meaning your cap just went down to $5M without Marner signed. Not to be a jerk, but the Leafs are in trouble man... in dire need of moving a few more players to try and sign all these guys.

Also, COL has the ability to do this just to point out a team... and the NYR are the richest team in hockey.

Kap Johnson deals reported as being done. 3.2 and 3.4 respectively. 9.7 cap space, need Marner and 1 D to round out roster, obviously 2 D would be nice, but could survive with just one. Minimum of one trade required yet. But the situation is not as bad as some think on here... I'm confident it will work out.
