Boqvist is more then likely going back to the juniors and Jokiharju is a lock for the lineup. Seabs is definitely on the 3rd line this year. As for trading Gus, more likely the Hawks trade Murphy until Boqvist is ready which is very unlikely.

Thats crazy talk......why would they trade a sure Right D in Murphy when they clearly don't have enough....At some point I think they do trade Murphy, but I don't see it this year. Trading him weakens the team far more than trading Gus. Since the Hawks played Jokiharju last year they would have to protect him in the expansion draft....so at some point before that draft the Hawks will trade 2 out of 3 of Gus, Henri, or Murphy.

RHD - Murphy, Jokiharju, Seabs. Gus also plays right and the Keith and Gus pairing statistically last year was the Hawks best pairing.

DeHaan, Maatta and Murphy, per the article which spells it out, are basically the same players. Murphy is gone either soon or next year that is a given. Gus is a 60 point player that transformed the PP from worst in the league (#31) to #11 last year almost on his own. Which is a bigger risk to move?

Considering the Hawks didn't have a problem scoring and Gus is a pylon actually playing defense I think the answer is plain to see. Playing Defenceman on their wrong side is usually asking for trouble...Henri is actually right handed so it makes sense for him to play RD, but Gus is a lefty....

BTW, not sure who wrote this article, but it's stupid....."Will the Blackhawks look to move one of the better defensemen in the history of the organization?

It’s possible." NO, IT"S NOT POSSIBLE....they both have no trade clauses, which means who ever theoretically trades for them is required to protect them in the expansion draft.

uh...perhaps you need to look at Gustafsson stats and where he plays......in the trade, MTL actually retains 2million of Tatar's salary just to make it fair.......

Gustafsson is a forward placed in D... he is crap in the most important part of being a D... defending

I think Habs would rather add a pick or prospect than retain salary. And the question is if Gustafson can pull off another season like he did.

What about Shaw + 2nd + 3rd for Gustafson? Put a condition on the 3rd if he resigns, it becomes a 2021 1st rd pick (top 10 protected). If Gus works out as a top line LD with the Habs, they have no problem giving up what would be Shaw + 1st + 2nd. Good deal for both sides. If he doesn’t pan out, Habs don’t get screwed out of a 1st, but CHI end up with Shaw + 2nd + 3rd for what would of been a 1 year rental/ tryout of Gustafson

I don't disagree, however Gus is crazy good on the power play...which is also a huge consideration....Weber and Gus on the points would be pretty sick.....

I think I'd be okay with that....however, I'm not sure there is much appetite bringing back old Hawks players anymore...it hasn't seemed to work out the 2nd time around.....otherwise I like the trade...Shaw brings back some of what the Hawks needed last year.

I honestly was very surprised the hawks didn't take Byram. Jokiharju, boqvist and Byram would be an awesome trio as the future d corps.
