Yeah his Notre Dame connection with fellow Alumn Stan Bowman might "pay off".

Lee won't sign with the Isles for 5 years and he WANTS to be here, he's not going elsewhere to sign for 5 years. It'll take 7 and at least 7m to get him to sign away from the Island.

I'd just prefer to keep Saad than sign Perry or Perlini. Perlini would need to be replace by an ELC...so there would only be $1M in cap at the beginning of the year (for this team), but most of the bonus dollars are top 10 scorer bonuses. True not all of them, but Stan can manage through that.

Saad needs to go and this will be the offseason we can get the most for him. After this season Saad gets a M-NTC and it ties Stan's hands. I think his 6 mil can be given to DeBrincat next year plus another mil to get that deal done.

The modified NTC is a factor and I honestly forgot he had one. I'd probably disagree with you that right now is the time when we can get the most. With 1 year left on his deal, Stan can make a few other choices to increase return. Stan could eat cap and still plan for the long term. Teams at the TDL are more willing to accept players on a 1 year deal because that allows the acquiring team a better ability to plan ahead while and still going for it.

But trading him away at the deadline would mean the Hawks have tossed up the white flag... wouldn't you agree dealing him now and using the cash to help bring in FA like Lee and or Pavs would be bennificial and at the same time create space for DeBrincat's extention next year?

Murphy is definitely worth more and Caggs and Saad are worth more also.

Dahlstrom on the 1st line? LOL really? He shouldn't even be in the lineup!

Dahlstrom is a place holder until they bring up Joki I think he might start the season in Rockford. What is "more" would be intrested to know for Murphy, Caggs and Saad. Keep in mind we kind of set the market at a back up goalie and RFA 6th D man for a top for D man with de Haan, I can't imagine us getting much for Murhphy.

It depends. Trading Saad away now would indeed free up $6M in cap space. I'm not convinced that Lee is a monster improvement over Saad. The net Lee vs Saad (and a 2nd since he's being traded to Florida) improvement to me is less than what he could get at the trade deadline. I mean guys like Tatar got a 1st, 2nd, AND 3rd. Hartman got a 1st and 4th.

There is not a chance that Dahlstrom plays over jokiharju.

I suggest you read this about Murphy comparing him to DeHaan and Maattta. Murphy is worth a 2nd rounder all day. Both Carolina and Pit were shedding cap space.

Saad alone is worth a 2nd and a 3rd. Caggs is worth a 3rd, so you're a 3rd rounder short.

Fine then imagine my deals with those bounties but my team is still my team with those guys gone and I guess imagine a few more upgraded pics.

It's good with the exception of either Joe P or Lee would be signed but not both and Dach is highly unlikely this season to step in beyond 9 games.

Hawks need cap space available next year with Strome and Cat at a minimum of $13M plus who knows what we get from Kubalik...he could be a diamond in the rough. Keep Caggs as a 4th liner and move Kubalik up.
