Some guys persistently have value when they shouldn't, and a little spit-shine brings out the buyers. If Gudbranson plays half-decent for a few more months the Pens are probably going to flip him or Schultz for a lot more than either of them should ever get. Both will end up worth many times over what Pitt payed for them, and I imagine they could do just as good rehabbing Zaitsev.
