Edmonton declines. Not giving up one of our best D on a team with a weak blue line just to move JP. Hamilton would improve our RHD but he’s not worth losing Nurse

oilers probably say no even though its close. I just think that nurse and klefbom and the 2 dmen in edmonton that wont be dealt anytime soon unless its for a haul that will fill glaring holes that are in the lineup. This trade doesn't help fix any issues currently on the lineup even if the value of the trade is fair.

NYR can’t give you the 2020 2nd since you already have it if Fox plays 30 games this season for NYR

Oilers fan here. I think that's reasonable value from the Oilers side, but I can't imagine Carolina wants Nurse with his RFA status being what it is next year. Another year like the year he just had, and I think he's going to demand $6-$7 mil on a long term deal. I think Carolina turns it down.

I think the bigger question is, though, why would they want anything to do with Marc Staal and that contract without serious salary retention? Georgiev is a decent 1B option with potential (and I don't see NYR wanting him to be a part of this equation, anyway), and a 2nd is nice, but I think there are better deals to be made from Carolina's standpoint.

Maybe something like Staal at 50% for Forsberg makes more sense?

You’d have Sekera at the second line LHD this season, and by 20/21 or 21/22 Broberg would be in the lineup, hopefully challenging Klefbom

Broberg will need time. He will be at least a 2 year wait to challenge the lineup. and if he plays in sweden most likely 3 years. Oilers need wingers more than anything else and this is just trading for a right handed nurse with an extra year and a higher cap hit. which won't make sense since we wouldn't sign hamilton since he'd want lots of money being a top pair rhd. Nurse on the other hand is younger and would be cheaper at expiry compared to hamiton a year later cause he is a top 4 LHD. THE BIGGEST REASON THIS WOULDN'T MAKE SENSE HOWEVER (on top of the previous reasoning) IS THAT THE OILERS NEED WINGERS and this trade does nothing to help that area which is their biggest cause for concern at the moment.
