Former Flyer, team is in the "win-now" mentality, franchise has several familiar faces who are friends with him and his family. Just a few at the top of my head. It is actually a realistic spot for him to end up at the right price.

If Williams has picked Carolina as his home and that's the place he's decided to ride off into the sunset in then there's no team that could sway him. But if he wants a chance to win again playing in a role he's best suited for on the 3rd line on a pretty complete roster top to bottom with a strong young goaltender? The Flyers shouldn't be that hard of a sell. If he's being honest with himself, Carolina's success this past year is likely just a one-off. They were lucky to get the goaltending they did. They grinded through the Capitals in the 1st round and were lucky to get the other Cinderella in the Islanders in the 2nd round. The Canes might be a playoff team but they're not sneaking up on anyone next year when they're viewed as a possible measuring stick game next year every night.
