Marner to Flames

Description
This is part of an ongoing exercise to narrow down who could and who could not make a realistic offer sheet for one of the top RFA's. In this case Mitch Marner of my Toronto Maple Leafs.

So this isn't going to happen but still fun to consider.

Okay so they sign Mitch. Then they still have to sign Tkatchuk (8 million) not happening, then they need a couple of goalies, and they buyout Neal and they are still 6 million over.

Safely cross Flames off any RFA list. In fact they might have a hard time not being sheeted on their own high end RFA.

No offence but i think your "exercise" is pointless. Every Team can land an offer-sheet, they can just dump a contract in terms of difference after to take them under the cap...even VGK

No.......in realityworld every team just can't dump a contract to make it happen.

Please feel free to not read any further of my exercise. Perhaps you want to spend your time debating whether Connor Brown can be traded for a 2nd, 3rd or 4th round pick to the Oilers.

Or maybe some fantasy about how Kadri and Brown can be turned into a top pairing RHD.

Buy out stone, trade Brodie and frolik which are all rumoured to be happening and you have 11 million +, not - 6 mil. ?

I say the Flames have enough problems that they are not a realistic offer sheet team. Remember that is the point of this exercise, to see who can make an offer sheet for Marner, Aho, Rantanen or Pointe.

What do you mean they have no one to play RHD. Thats exactly why they are trying to move brodie because they have too many D that CAN play in the league next year! The realty for all T.O fans is that marner could be offer sheeted by multiple teams, it's wether they have the balls to do it or not.

Really............who are those RHD that they are going to play......perhaps I am missing someone tremendous who is going to suddenly play 82 games on RHD.

As to "multiple teams" who could offer sheet Marner. I am now up to the letter C in my review and realistically I see only Anahiem who could make a top free agent offer sheet work.

Well to start anderson will start the season on the top line, just like he finished last year...hamonic will continue to play on the second, and the 6th defensemen could either be kylington, prout, fantenberg... or any other bottom paring d man that could be found for less than 2 million. Why else do you think Brodie is on the trade block?

Any team that is willing to move out contracts and take a massive risk by giving up draft picks could OS him. Same with point, tkachuk, laine etc.
