Offer Sheet I Got Yer xxxxxxx Offer Sheet Right Cheer

Created by: OldNYIfan

Description
As long as we are in a holding pattern until Monday, I thought I'd weigh in on this week's game of Offer Sheet. Anaheim needs goal scoring, not another playmaker.

This is all rather fanciful, of course, but just in case: the Henrique trade would occur only if Point signs the offer sheet and Tampa Bay doesn't match. (The other two acquisitions are kinda independent of the Point move.)

We can call the the Mighty Ducks again !!!
Ironically the Ducks were the last team to lose a player to an offer sheet

I actually think that there is a 1% chance that this could happen, which is about twice the chance of most things we see on CapFriendly

Thank you for playing my offer sheet game........... I agree that Pointe would be a better target for a Ducks offer sheet. I actually think Aho would also be a more realistic target since I think Canes will not spend to max and might just take the picks. Unless someone comes close to making Marner the top paid player in hockey the leafs are likely matching.

Point > Marner
If I had to offer sheet one of the two I would go with point.
But I have to think TB will match it.

Me, too. I think Point could go down as the greatest third-round pick in history. At least, in the 21st Century.

Agreed and point plays centre. But marner will get a 14m offersheet for sure...

I don't think so. I think if toronto is offering less than the 10.45 whatever it is for the 2 1st round picks, someone will offer up that max. Other than that, if you are looking at 10.5 + the only team I see doing it is one that will be picking late every year for the next 4 years. And there aren't a lot to choose from. Maybe CBJ, Maybe Colorado, Maybe ever Carolina. But I don't know if they would do all that. He will have to be above that ~10.5 mark though. If that is a 4 year deal it is what it is. But I think 4 years at that is fair, for both teams. Why get roped into a longer term big money deal with a guy that hasn't cracked 30 goals. It could just as easily go south.

Carolina won’t spend that much money and Aho isn’t under contract so that doesn’t work... direct offersheet coming back and Aho will want the same money.

Colorado has Rantanen exact same situation.

CBJ is about to be a basement team

NYI luckily Lou has more class than their fans, with Barzal coming due I think it’s best to keep away. I also think islanders may be this year’s Jersey. Made it by on hot goaltending like Jersey road Hall.

You might be right considering Dundon invested $250m in Feb on a now bankrupt football league, he might not be in the spending mood

a fool and their money are soon parted. You would have to be an idiot to have invested in that. So many times have people tried to go head to head with the NFL and lost. To invest that kind of bank was just moronic.

I don't know about either COL or CAR, maybe maybe not.
I do know one thing, CBJ is not a basement team. There is a lot of good young talent on that team. They will be surprising people next year.

What is your thought on trading for Aho instead and signing him long term?

No chance. Cornerstone players like Aho or Kucherov or Point or Tarasenko or Bergeron or Kuznetsov or even Barzal just don't get traded.

I think as a Ducks fan, I would love to see BM offer sheet Aho. I know it wont happen but if he did and then turned around and traded Henrique and Kase for a 1st and Spurgeon. This is team would then make the playoffs but I think the only how to get a player that caliber (Aho, Point, etc) is by an offer sheet.

I really like the idea of having Point on the ducks. Then the ducks could trade Henrique to the Canes for Haula or something like that. He would fit right in with his speed and scoring touch. But hey, we all have wish lists. Besides, i think the Bolts would trade nearly anyone to keep Point. But the Bolts are in big trouble next year with all the Free Agents coming up. Starting to figure out why Yzerman left so quickly haha
