Damn salary cap

Created by: flyers708
Team: 2019-20 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 27, 2019
Published: Jun. 27, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Due to the cap I think that they would have to allow a young player step up to that needed winger spot. NAK provides play driving 5 v 5 and draws a ton of penalties which would be a nice addition with patrick and oskar.

I doubt they let him play, but Frost has looked naaaaasty during development camp. I even rather have Farabee up, I think I just have something against NAK playing third line hahaha.

I dont disagree about Frost especially after the weight he put on. I can see him stealing the spot but for some reason the org really like NAK's 5v5 play driving and penalty drawing. That 3rd line needs a 5v5 play driver so i think they try it out. But like you said Frosty can do that too. Fabree would be nice but he needs to bulk up he is one skinny dude haha.

If Gost ends up on your 3rd pair, maybe he should be trade to MTL so he can have a bigger role ? smile

I'd rather have a strong 3rd pair d-man like Ghost than an expensive 3rd line wing. No offense to Byron and Shaw who are often put in deals for Ghost from Montreal. Ghost can still get about 20 minutes a game. His regular 3rd pair rotation plus power play and situational offensive deployment. The Flyers have the ideal situation for him. He won't play heavy defensive zone minutes. He also creates a bit of a matchup headache whether he's on the ice with the top lines or the bottom lines. I like the idea of a heavy 3rd or 4th line grinding shifts away where all they do is get the puck back to the point and get to the net for deflections and rebounds on a Ghost shot. It's fun to see how the Flyers lineup has changed where they can dictate the matchups rather than chase after them.

If the Flyers are able to get the cap into this situation, they take a strong shot at signing Justin Williams to an incentive laden 35+ 1 year contract. He's been interested in Philly in the past. It wouldn't be too difficult to sway him to join the Flyers in a 3rd line role. Given the moves they have made and depth of the team all throughout the lineup, they appear much better on paper than Carolina does.
