It's funny because it's true. Ottawa won't need to trade or sign for anyone due to the fact they can reach the cap floor with contracts they have (plus rookie bonus'). Melnyk will spend the bare minimum required to run an "NHL" team.

That's what I was wondering. Don't know his exact value. Everyone talks about offer sheets for the big RFA's which won't happen because of the four 1st's. I think if any offer sheet happens it will be too good players that could be signed for under 4.2 mill as it will only cost a second.

The idea has merit if you want to overpay and give up at least a 1st and a 3rd, which is dangerous given the state of the organization. Do you really need a repeat of this year when you are hoping that you don’t win the draft lottery even though you are, by far, the worst team in the league?

even after signing Wolanin, Ceci and white they will likely need to add a player at around 3 million to ice a floor team. might as well acquire one from Vegas to get an asset versus signing a free agent. I see Reeves as the guy as he can be flipped at the deadline (to get closer to the bare minimum) and add vet leadership that they keep talking about.

That's fair, but it has to be to a player who's probably not worth the contract just yet or to a team that is in a severe cap crunch. Konecny and the Flyers are not that situation at all.

The flyers have ~$15m in space to sign Laughton, provorov, and TK. That’s should be more than enough considering their only bother lineup hole can be filled with an entry level contract.

$4.2 million should be affordable for the Flyers and a second round pick is not enough to consider letting him walk.
