Tkachuk Brothers Unite

Created by: TCMonkey
Team: 2019-20 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 26, 2019
Published: Jun. 27, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The only negative thing about bringing in Matthew Tkachuk and Anton Stralman is it lowers our chances at having a top 5 pick in the 2020 draft. But to unite the Tkachuk brothers GREATLY increases our chances at keeping both of them for their careers.
** I'd be willing to add the DAL 2020 2nd round pick to the Tkachuk trade IF required but I'm not sure it should cost that much to get him seeing as CAL can't sign all the players they want to and would rather see Tkachuk moved to the East if they're going to possibly lose him.

I can only assume that you've never seen Matthew Tkachuk play.

here. That should be enough for you to understand how ridiculous this proposal is.

Not even close. SJ picks are relatively low and Balcers ain't worth much.

Only way CGY lets Tkachuk go is if OTT offer sheets him, and it's gonna cost 4 firsts.

3x10.5 would be tough to match. I bet they could get away with two firsts, a second, and a third.

Maybe, but CAL knows they might be screwing themselves if they sign Tkachuk. They have a lot of things to address if they're trying to build a contender and signing him might hurt them more than help them. I think a 1st, two 2nds (adding the 2nd from DAL) and Balcers is a pretty decent offer coming from a team out of conference, all things considered. I'd also consider swapping Chlapik for Balcers, or replacing the SJS 2nd rounder with Lajoie.

No they won’t be screwing themselves. He is probably their best/most important forward. He is not getting moved at all.

Calgary just keeps Tkachuk if it's 8x8. He's their future captain.

Not really. The talk in Calgary is very clear they are comfortable signing Tkachuk, and he's viewed as the future face of the franchise.

Wishful thinking. Thomas lived with Big Walt this year so it would be fun to see the Tkachuk household line.

Fair! I have started to question everyone who says "he'll come home at the end of his contract" strictly because of pompous Philly fans with Johnny, wishful thinking is an extremely acceptable answer!

Depends on whether he signs that or not. Don't see hin going for a bridge deal.

if it's 10.5? He absolutely does and he and his agent do cartwheels. If he signed for 3x10.5, he's getting a ton of money guaranteed, and in 3 years, he doesn't even have to go to arbitration, he can just accept the qualifying offer and then become a UFA as early as allowed by the CBA. That's the dream situation for a player. a 3 year deal at that kind of money gives him so much leverage, because if he wants it to be, he can make it a 4 year deal at 10.5 per and walk right into UFA.
