And when Heiskanen is up for a contract Doug Wilson will offer sheet him and Dallas won’t be able to match since they’re spending over 32 million on four players.

You think SJ is going to have the cap space to offer sheet him? SJ has $34.5 tied up in 4 players and 3 of them play defense...

Not having to sign Meier will save us 7 mill. It will be doable when Heiskanen in rfa in 2 years.

And in 2 years Pavelski would be coming off the books and that $6 mill will go to Heiskanen before he hits the market.

Pavs won’t sign for less than three years as has been widely reported. So no, that won’t work here, chief.

Face it, you take Meier, we take Heiskanen..that’s how this offer sheet chaos works. It’s hard, I know.

LOL. Whatever you want to think buddy.

The fact that you think the Stars won't have the cap to sign him before he becomes an RFA is laughable.

Assuming we sign Pavs to a 3-year deal, and don't make anymore major purchases over the next two years, let's run this through player by player, year by year:

2019-2020

Cap Space: $1.6M (rounded)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2020-2021: Assume the cap jumps up by the same miniscule $2M it did this offseason (will likely be higher, but we'll use a low number for arguments sake)

Cap Space: $13.4M

- Trade Faksa. His spot in the lineup can easily be filled by Dickinson or L'Esperance
- Gurianov, Hintz, and L'Esperance all see 2/3 year bridge deals
- 2 years @ $2.2M for Gurianov
- 3 years @ $4.5M for Hintz
- 2 years @ @1.5M for L'Esperance

This puts Dallas at 13 forwards & 6 defensemen with $5.2M in cap space remaining for our backup goalie and an additional skater

Jake Oettinger or Landon Bow for less than $1M AAV as Bishop's backup. We'll call it $1M for the argument, and we'll assume that the extra skater is making $1M as well

Roster size of 22

Cap Space: $3.2M
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2021-2022: Same thing; assume a $2M increase on the cap.

Cap Space: $17M to re-sign notable RFA's Heiskanen, Johns, Dickinson, Cecconi, and Kiviranta

Heiskanen will be the top priority on the Stars list that offseason, with Johns 2nd on the list. You want to offer sheet Dickinson, Cecconi, or Kiviranta, go for it, but even in this scenario here, there's no chance that Dallas doesn't match any offer sheet y'all put on Heiskanen.
