Vatanen is a RD ... but can play off on the left too, which he has done often.

If the theory is that Toronto is doing this for relief as well as obtaining a RD, Severson is not an easy ask. NJ cant afford giving up any D, but if they do, it cant be Severson. Sure based only on player value, Severson is fair, but not when salary cap implications are taken into account. The deal has to be a slight overpay for NJ to consider it.

Zacha now ... hard to say longer term. McLeod still figuring things out. Both are solid on D, Zacha great PK, MM may get there too.

Tough call. Eye of beholder.

pit is a tough call, personally i prefer Zacha, but if cap implications are a factor as well as NJD not being able to loose a dman, what about if we added Zaitsev for Zajac? Also after July 1st nylander's bonus is paid he only cost $700k in actual money owed.

If you took Zajac you’d have to be sure to move out Kadri. Which we would not take him. I’m pretty sure NJ is set on the RHD lineup they have at the moment. Vatanen is interesting going into his last year of contract and also able to a slot into LD or RD. Because of Tor needing Cap, knowing they’re shopping Kadri, that’s why I put in Mcleod. Low risk, high reward only giving up a 2nd rd pick for a former first round player who is very young still. You need to shed salary? You want to win now? Nylander for Vat is what I thought of

Good points, and i smh every time i see leaf fans trade kadri and 2 seconds for Severson, as you dont need anymore center's. Agree on McLeod just thought Zacha would help us out more to win now. I added Zaitsev for Zajac because we were taking back Severson and i was told that you can't afford to loose any dman. Nylander for Vatanen doesn't work because of the contracts we wouldn't be saving cap space after this year because Vatanen needs a new contract. Also after July 1st nylander only costs$700k in actual salary which would be a huge benefit to the devils.
