are you a Islanders fan? im curious on how you value Leddy. I'm a Hawk fan, always liked him. he has to be a top 4 for them right?

Why would you trade Leddy if you are only going to get a 3rd round pick back? That absolutely ridicules, he is worth at least a first. Don't trade him if your not getting value.

I am and he is, however with Dobson, Wilde, Aho coming up the road and salary needed for Barzal and Pulock we need to be flexible on retunr in my mind to help out. Maybe I under valued him a little here but I like to play safe.

interesting. i always like to see how the teams fan really feel about their players. they always seem to be overvalued from an outside view.

A 3rd is ridiculous. We should be able to get a 1st plus a little for him.

Islander fans have been putting him in proposals here for a few reasons:
1) He has value and we have holes to fill (i.e. scoring)
2) He makes a decent amount of money, moving it out will help towards next off-season when we have Barzal/Pulock/Toews who need new contracts
3) Devon Toews is a freaking stud and can do what Leddy does at $700K vs. $5.5M
4) Sebastian Aho (the defenseman) is NHL ready and can play on the bottom pair, and we'd still have a very good defense

We all love Leddy, and I don't think anyone wants Leddy the player gone. He really can only stay one more year then he has to be traded to make cap room. If we do end up signing Panarin and Bobrovsky, Leddy has to be moved now.

Leddy has played 402 out of 410 games in five seasons as an Islander. He's never missed more than 4 games in a single season. What are you talking about?

I agree with all your saying. However sometimes when teams know they are helping you, the return is less. I may have went low at a third but i would still do it for a second. Toews Wilde Dobson Aho Pulock. Def are set for years coming up def need help up front.

I think a 1st and a 4th and a 2nd and a prospect/young fringe NHLer are all we need. You're right, if we didn't need to move him we'd be getting more in a trade, but cap space will be just as valuable to us. Also, like I said, we don't HAVE to move him this year, but we have to move him next year unless Lou works magic and moves Boychuk and Ladd's contracts.

Still not sure where you got the injury thing from. Leddy is very durable.

If I'm moving Mayfield, it's for someone better or younger than Saad. Leddy for Saad was originally a good proposal, but I think the Blackhawks got better value in Maatta and deHaan (even if Leddy is better).

No I wouldnt SAAD carries 6m cap hit, again with Pulock Barzal Toews all coming due Id keep the cap space, Also that cap space is super valuable if they think they are close to a cup at the trade deadline in a year or two, I'M not saying they will be just if they think they are

Where did Beauvillier and Ho Sang go? Both are RFAs with qualifying offers. Gotta figure their salaries into the mix as well.
Where do you come up with the $ next year to sign Barzy, Toews and Pulock next season? I dont think we need an 8M goaltender long term either. If signing Bob is the only way to get Panarin and your numbers are accurate, the Isles will need to look elsewhere. Its just too expensive.
Leddy needs to go just to make the numbers fit as it stands, other GM's know it, so they wont get a 1st round pick for him but teams in need of a top 4 puck moving D (Vancouver, LAK?) with 3 years and 5.5M AAV Leddy makes sense. Its gonna be interesting!

Hurt a lot for your liking? Leddy has never missed more than 4 games in a season! Plus, Dobson and Wilde are RHD and Leddy is a LD. They won't come in and play for him especially as youngsters.
