Muzzin for Faulk doesn't make much sense. Faulk may be right handed but brings none of the things TOR should be looking for, especially sending out the better guy in his own zone

You're dreaming on those two STL trades. You can't really imagine either of those would even come close to happening.

The bigger picture is it allows us to resign another lefty, in Gardiner while locking up a righty, in Faulk long-term. Did you miss Gardiner altogether?

Instead of losing Gardiner for nothing and eventually making a choice between Muzzin and Dermott too, Muzzin gets flipped for a similar player on the right side and signed long term. Gardiner can eventually be traded for futures when Dermott is ready to replace those minutes.

Subsequently Dermott, Faulk, and Rielly get protected at the expansion draft without any other casualties.

This team is way deeper than last year's and it's not even close.

No one missed it, Muzzin is the best player involved, keep him and find a better way

That may be for others, but he has value to the Blues. They need to re-sign Petro, Schenn and Dunn over the next year. Brown is going to need a $2.5M deal. So we'd basically be trading away, let's say, Petrangelo's raise. Besides, Fabbri still has a higher upside than Brown, and he is now officially a year past major knee surgery. If he is going to get back to what he was before, now is the time.

I'm not saying the Blues won't trade Fabbri, but it won't be for that. They'd much rather take a pick/another young guy who might relish a move than Brown. If they push the cap, it'll be a winger that lifts the power play.
