Panarin and Bob With Explanations

Initial Creation Date: Jun. 30, 2019

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I really don't want Bob but at this point all the signs point to them signing together and that the race is between the Isles and Florida.
Kinda hoping they'd take a slight 'discount' to not completely screw the team over for big contracts coming up

Hickey Trade: Winnipeg needs to sign Laine and Connor then add at least one defenseman on top. Hickey doesn't have a big contract and can play serviceable top-6 minutes - or play wing if Laine and Connor don't work out (https://eyesonisles.com/2017/04/04/new-york-islanders-second-line-winger-thomas-hickey/)

Leddy Trade: It's pretty much inevitable at this point, just need to find the right return which is probably somewhere around a 2nd and decent prospect. I was a big fan of Olofsson in his draft year last year and the Isles center depth is pretty much depleted so adding a C prospect would be nice.

Boychuk Trade: Strictly to open up cap, he had a pretty bad year last year and at 35 he's not getting any younger but he can still play a good enough game - would probably need to pay a team to take him. As much as it pains me to trade Sorokin, I would assume Lou doesn't view him as a long term option starting next year. Instead, Florida gets to roll out a Knight-Sorokin combo in a few years.

Komarov Buyout: It can probably wait until next year, but he really needs to go.

Aberg Signing: Just a decent depth piece, would much rather him over a Kuhnhackl - plays a decent two-way game and has offense to him

$21 million in cap space next year with Griess, maybe Martin, coming off the books too. Should be enough to get everyone signed and worst case you put Ladd on LTIR to open up some more room. The defense took a pretty decent hit but the system they play as long as you buy in they should be serviceable. Probably not replicating last season so at least you get a little more offensive.

Boychuk actually played very well last season. Sucked when he was injured in the playoffs - it made a huge impact. Don't mind you getting rid of him though I just wanted to make that point. Attaching Sorokin here makes a lot of sense

If you have cap and you do by this roster...Keep Boychyuk. He might be an impossible trade anyway. Quite a leap of faith to think Dobson is NHL ready in October.

From what everyone's been saying, and what I watched, from camp, I'd actually be decently surprised if Dobson's not NHL ready by October

I wasn't the biggest fan of his game, thought defensively he was very underwhelming in a system that should've favored his game. Regardless, he probably has the most moveable contract of the bad ones and they're going to need space next year.
