A struggling top 4 dman on his last contract year for a struggling forward... dont see the issue here... pul is going to play in Europe if he isnt traded cause he doesn't want to play for the dumpster fire oilers.

Why does everyone assume on this website that shattenkirk has negative value... his point totals were bad because he was INJURED... his advanced stats are still good and put him in the range of a top 4 dman... look it up. People assume that he is a negative value because some moron on the internet wrote that the rangers should consider buying him out... he is a top 4 defensemen on the oilers for sure... and as far as positive value go for pul, he has shown nothing in the nhl that has him with any value, which is why he is on the 3rd line of this team. Giving each player the opportunity to try and turn things around a little bit.

Tends to work better when you watch the games.
There’s a reason his last two teams cut his ice time in the playoffs. Caps nearly benched him. He’s just bad

So let me get this straight... you are basing him be "bad" by how he performed in the playoffs, years ago... I'm more of a numbers kind of guy and if you look at possession metrics he is a decent top 4 guy who has been good on the pp. If we went with how players play in the playoffs as how good they are half of the star players in the league that disappear in the playoffs would have negative value according to you.

Nah I’m basing him being bad at hockey on him playing hockey.

If you’re a numbers guy, there’s a fun sport called baseball that’s all numbers. Hockey isn’t numbers.

All I said was that I base my opinion on a player on watching them play. I don’t really get why you have such an issue with this.

My issue is that you completely ignore the numbers... his numbers are better than any defensemen on the oilers roster right now and he has not been playing as good as he has in the past. Believe me dude I watch a lot of hockey and see things too, but to think that he isnt a serviceable top 4 guy is just flat out wrong. If you dont like the trade, that's one thing. Give some other alternatives to the trade and back up your words with credible evidence, not just your opinion.
