If we sign Zucc, the sad reality is that Greenway is probably going to spend the year in Iowa. We need Kunin for his right shot and I think Donato and Ek are now waiver eligible (correct me if I'm wrong)

Ottawa probably says no.

True. Stupid, but true! I am adamantly opposed to signing Zucc! Not because he is not a good player, but signing a tiny left-shot 32 year old to a long-term contract is suicide...and I fear Leipold and Fenton are too stupid to realize this!
Ottawa is a place I think might actually take Rask. He would be a good option to plug in at a fairly big cap hit so they can continue to suck and add high draft picks while they rebuild.

I'd like Zucc a lot more than Simmonds (although you probably disagree). Simmonds reminds me a ton of Lucic when he signed his deal with Edmonton, and I do NOT want a $6M 4th line winger. Zucc has the skill to be on the 3rd line, even towards the end of his career. Worst case scenario we just LTIRetirement him for the final year or two of his contract. I don't want Simmonds or Zucc, but if we have to sign one I'd rather have Zucc...

I agree that Ottawa might take Rask, but they aren't swapping a likely late 6th for a higher 6th to do that. It'd take a high pick to get rid of him, and honestly I'd rather just have him be a pylon for a year then either buy him out or maybe trade him with a good player to get rid of him.

My #1 wish is that the Wild sign no one! I would only give Zucc or Simmonds 2 year deals...and I'd be happy to walk away if/when they demanded more. I'm with you that I would prefer Zucc, actually...but I don't want either.

I'm shocked! Simmonds seems right up your alley. I would have LOVED Simmonds 4-5 years ago. He was a freight train on skates and could put up tons of goals. Now... not so much. I'd take Simmonds or Zucc on a 2 year deal in a heartbeat, I'd probably even be OK with a 3 year deal. But yeah they're going to get 5 maybe even 6 year deal that I want no part of. At least Zucc would be fun to watch next year while our team is a bottom feeder...

So if Donato is a better option to send down, he could be

If he was still the player he was a few years ago, I would LOVE to have him on the Wild. He is (was) exactly the player the Wild have NEVER had...a big, strong, fast, physical, AND skilled right wing! Fast forward to today, and I think his skills are in serious decline...and he is just big, strong, fast, and physical now.

I am not sure where Donato fits... seems like he has the shooting ability and shoot first mentality of a first liner but has a lot of development to do yet... not sure where it would be best to put him to optimize that development.

He may never be a first liner of course... just that he thinks like a shooter... which we want
